{*cough* her name is Kayden *cough*}
Kayden smiled at Lauren. "Yes, I suppose I should go and open the door." Kayden replied getting up and walking over to the door and opening it to find her cousin standing there.
Kayden looked curiously at her cousin standing there, dripping wet as it had apparently started raining rather hard. Kayden seemed at a loss of words, as she hadn't seen her cousin in at least two years when she was taken out of school for a reason no one knows, and simply moved aside to let her wet cousin come into the house; her luggage in hand.

{Since I'm Layla and Kayden, I'm just going to roleplay with myself. *laughs*}
Layla looked at her cousin as she came into the house and smiled slightly. "I'm sorry to just, just you know, drop in without calling, but there wasn't really time." Layla said, setting down her suitcase and pausing before she continued, "I didn't think you would be up this early, are your parents here?" Layla asked.
Kayden smiled only because she didn't know what else to do. "No, they went away for five days. My mother's idea. Why are you here, Layla? I mean, not that I mind; I haven't seen you in ages, but that's just it. One day your at school and the next you've been pulled out and no one knows why." Kayden said, looking at her cousin in hope for an explanation.
"I'm here because I ran away from home." Layla stated, looking at the floor.
"You what?!" Kayden asked, thinking there were a lot of people she knew that were running away from home nowadays.
"My dad went crazy, Ayden. I think he killed my mum. I don't know. I've been locked in a room under our house for the past two years. I've read every school book imaginable because that's all I had. I finally figured out how to get out and I ran. I didn't look back, I just ran. Before I knew it I was here." Layla explained, looking at the floor, and when her cousin didn't say anything Layla looked up at her from the floor and said, "I don't have anywhere else to go."
"Ayla, that's horrible! I'm so sorry! You can stay here as long as you want. You know Dad won't care. My mother might mind, but she has no say in anything!" Kayden said, putting her arm around her cousin and leading her into the kitchen where Lauren was still at.
"Lauren, this is my cousin, Layla. She's going to be staying here with me. I only just found out." Kayden said with a laugh as she introduced her cousin to her friend.

"Yes, answering the door would be a very good thing to do.......Just watch out for those crazed mad men with chainsaws." Lauren replied smoothly with a serious nod, watching as her friend opened the door, and thinking for a moment that that might be what was on the other side. Who is she? She wondered from the kitchen door a she went back to her seat.
As she went to the fridge, she grabbed a cup, then poured herself a glass of ice tea. Huh, it really might take twelve years to list them all.... She mused as se took her seatr once more. When Kayden and Layla came in, Lauren hid her shock at the other girl's appearence and listened to Kayden. "Nice to meet you, Layka."

Layla's brown hair was wet and curling, which only happened when it rained. Her blues eyes seemed to stand out even more against her wet cold features. She also looked half dead anyway from being locked in a room under her house for two years. She smiled slightly at Lauren before she sat down across from her.
Kayden noticed Lauren had gotten herself something to drink and chuckled. "Didn't I tell you it would take twelve years to list them all?" Kayden asked with a laugh.
Layla looked tired, cold, hungry, wet, and slightly deranged. Her eyes were somewhat squinted and she shivered occasionally. Finally Layla looked at her cousin and asked, "Kay, can I go have a shower and a nap?"
"Of course. You remember where everything is at right?" When Layla nodded, Kayden continued, "Alright. And I have plenty of Muggle music you can listen to. I just love their videos and music!" Kayden laughed and Layla smiled sleepily as she got up and went to Kayden's part of the house.

Lauren didn't show her shock and confusion about Kayden's cousin sitting across from her, instead faking a bright smile. And with her Occlumens and Leglimens, it was an excellent imitation.
"Pfft, yea you tried to warn me." Lauren said, laughing slightly. "I settled for just plain sweet, iced tea. Delicious." She said, taking a large sip from the cup as she looked back at Layla. What happened to her?
"See ya, Layla." Lauren said as Layla left the room, then quickly turned to Kayden, a questioning look in her eyes. "What happened to her? Did she get attacked? Will she be alright?" Lauren inquired quickly; she hated seeing people tired and....well, she wasn't sure what the word was, but it was Layla.

Kayden looked back at the spot where her cousin had just left.
"Well, a few years back, two years actually, she was taken out of school and no one had any clue why. Turns out her dad went mental and locked her in a basement room. She thinks he's done something to her mother and she ran away. She didn't get attacked or anything, she's just had to walk a long way to get here. I'm sure she'll be alright once she gets some sleep and freshens up." Kayden explained, placing herself where her cousin was sitting at the table.

"And those entire two years, no one did anything about it? Like, no one went to look for her?" Asked Lauren with a raised eyebrow as she took a sip of her tea. "Shouldn't you tell someone she's here, now? I mean.....If she thinks something happened to her mum....What about the Ministry?"

"No we didn't go looking for her because we all had the impression that her mum had taken her out of school." Kayden also took a swallow of her drink. "The Ministry? Please, her dad is so connected if we tell them he'll be banging the door down to get her back. No, if anything, I need to call my dad and tell him that she is here and what not."

"Well still......Two years of no contact? C'mon, you must have had SOME type of suspicion." Lauren replied, an eyebrow raised slightly. "Yea that's true........Kinda sad about the 'connections' people have these days.......But what do you think you're dad will do?"

"No, she lives quite a ways away from the school. Actually her mum had to pull some strings to get her accepted to the school. If we're not at school I never saw her." Kayden said, looking for her phone that her dad had the double of.
"I don't know what my dad will do. I reckon there's not much he can do actually, but still he should know she's here shouldn't he?" Kayden said, finding her phone.

"Pull some strings? Huh.......I thought all wizarding children in Great Britain were accepted to Hogwarts." Lauren said musingly. "Yea I guess he should know............How old did you say Layla was again?"

"Yeah, well they reside in Canada." Kayden pondered this for a second before she nodded in agreement with herself. "Layla, she's the same age as me. Sixteen." Kayden said opening the phone and pressing a number that was completely removed from the phone.
Kayden held the phone up to her ear and waited for her dad to answer the phone. Finally, his familiar voice came through the phone. "Hello?"
"Daddy?" Kayden asked.
"No it's someone else that has this number. Kay, why would you ask that?" The voice said.
"Just making sure. I'm just calling to tell you that Layla is here." Kayden said into the phone.
"There? At the house?" Kayden nodded like her dad could see her and he went on, "Is she with her parents?"
"No, she ran away. Apparently she's been being kept in a basement room by her father and she doesn't know if her mum is alright." Kayden said.
"How did she get there?" Blaise questioned.
"I don't know, I haven't had time to interrogate her yet, sorry." Kayden said sarcastically, rolling her eyes at Lauren.
"Well, we can't leave right now, but do not let her dad in that house if he comes looking for her!" His voice sounded serious and concerned.
"Okay, Daddy. I'll see you later then. Talk to you later as well. Love you." Kayden said.
"Love you." Kayden hung up the phone and looked at Lauren before she sat back down.

"Canada? Huh I'm from America...........But they let me in pretty easily......" She paused, tilting her head to the side slightly. "That would make you both a year younger than me then.....Cool."
Lauren listened to half the conversation between Kayden and her father, wondering about Layla. Under a pirch for all that time? God that must be awful. When Kayden hung up, Lauren asked curiously. "So what did he say?"

"Yep, Canada. Her mum used to live over here though so she wanted her daughter to go to school here as well. And we're in a different house than you as well, but no matter." Kayden said, getting up again and stuffing her cell phone into her front pocket.
"He wanted to know how she got here and not to answer the door for her dad if he comes looking for her." Kayden explained, pondering for a second. "You know, I wonder how she did get here?"

"Yea that's true......Ya'll are in Slytherin; I'm in Ravenclaw. Doesn't really change anything, though." Lauren mused, tilting her head to the side as she thought of all the prejudices that really didn't do anything but screw things up.
"Well DUH we're not going to open to door if he comes......I mean, that would just be stupid." Said Lauren, sighing slightly. At Kayden's question, Lauren paused in her speech, wondering the same thing. "I don't know......She either escaped, or someone let her out."

"I know. Besides, I don't even think her dad knows where we live." Kayden said, pondering this for a moment. "I highly doubt someone let her out. Frankly I'm amazed she escaped. If you'd ever met her dad you'd understand. He's a very," Kayden shuddered, "he's just not right."

"Well, with tracking devices, you never know. Some can even penatrate the most powerful wards......." Lauren shooj her head at that thought. Bad thought. "So she must have escaped......And there's so many ways she could have done that......What do you mean, he's not right?"

Kayden shuddered again. "I mean, he's just off. Listen, I know some pretty dark, foul people being in Slytherin and all and her dad blows them all out of the water. He's always been eerie and freakish, so it was honestly only a matter of time before he lost it." Kayden explained.

"Not worse than-erm-Voldemort, I hope?" Lauren said, half joking, half serious. Thought that was somewhat hard to pull off. "But he lost it, then? God.....Maybe you should go and ask Layla once she's rested up a bit."

"No, no. He's not worse than Voldemort. I'd never give him that much credit anyhow. But I will say that he's up there with those vile people." Kayden said.
"I'll go check on Layla in a little while, but if you wouldn't mind, could you stay here a little longer?" Kayden asked, adding, "Since she's sleeping and all, I'd just feel very alone."

Lauren nodded in understanding. She knew some pretty vile people as well. Then again, didn't everyone? "'Course I'll stay. I don't have anywhere else to go anyway, and I haven't seen you in....," She paused, tilting her head in thought. "Three whole days."

Kayden laughed. "Yeah, a lot can happen in three whole days!" Kayden joked before she added, "Thanks. It really means a lot to me to be able to have someone I know will be there for me."

"Heh, yes, yes it can," Lauren agreed, laughing. It only took a split second for things to change. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. "Aww, well that's what friends are for, aye?"
